At Ochil Eyes, we believe the eye examination is about more than just making sure you have the right prescription. We believe its the single most important part of your journey with us.
Many people believe that they cannot wear contact lenses because their prescription is too high or because they need multifocals.
Some of our patients even believe they are too old to try contact lenses for the first time. We say you are never too old to try something for the first time.
Richard joined the team at Ochil Eyes in July 2019 as our full time, resident optometrist. He studied at Glasgow Caledonian University and qualified as an optometrist in August 2010. He joined us from Specsavers in Kirkcaldy, having spent 4 years with the busy Fife practice.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, along with their cavapoo Harley. Recommendations for good family days out are always welcome!
Samantha is our practice manager and has been working in practice since 2007. She is our longest serving team member, having been with us since the day we opened in May 2010. Since then she has played a pivotal role in the continued growth and success of Ochil Eyes. She is responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the practice and is one of our senior dispensers. Sam completed her Level 2 in Optical Practice Support in 2014 and has also studied for an HND in Business studies around her full time commitments with us.
Away from work, Sam can usually be found following her football team St Johnstone across the country at the weekends, which is why we rarely see her on Saturdays! She also enjoys fitness classes, walking and taking care of her garden.
Susy is our second longest serving team member, having joined the practice in September 2014. She successfully passed the Level 5 Certificate in Optical Care in 2015. She currently works part time in the practice and is one of our senior dispensers. Susy has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all things optics.
Away from work, Susy is a talented artist specialising in pet portraits. You can view her work on her website susynimmo.com, as well as her Facebook and Instagram pages. When she is not working with us or on her latest commission, Susy enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two young grandchildren.
Holly joined the team in March 2023 as our newest optical assistant. She is currently studying for her Level 5 Certificate in Optical Care. She is thoroughly relishing her new challenge in the vast world of optics, not only learning about how we correct refractive errors with glasses and contact lenses, but also how we monitor and care for the health of our patients eyes.
Away from work, Holly is a busy mum of one and – like Susy – a keen artist. She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Art and Design from Stirling University in the summer of 2020 and specialises in digital art. Her work can be found on her instagram page @hollycharlotteillustrations. est
